The University Grants Commission (UGC) on June 09, 2026, issued a notification regarding participation of HEIs in India's Net Zero Portal Initiative and nomination of Nodal Officer.
The following has been stated:-
•The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) is launching India's Net Zero Portal, a national platform to promote transparency, voluntary net-zero commitments, and climate action in support of India's Net Zero 2070 goal.
•Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) have been requested to nominate a Nodal Officer and submit details through the prescribed Google Form within 7 days.
•HEIs are also encouraged to participate in capacity-building and awareness activities related to the portal.
•A demonstration webinar on the Net Zero Portal will be held on June 22 and 29, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
